Allie Rice of St. Thomas thanks teammate Brooke Selisker
As a shy and quiet freshman in college, looking for a place to fit in and some new friends to hang out with was no easy task. Being on a softball team of 40 girls, it was easy to just hide in the back. But Brooke, a junior at the time, made it a point to really get to know me and invite me to a group on campus that she was a leader of.
The group was FCA - and the rest is history.
She continued to be light of Christ for me and showed me what being a loving and welcoming Christian looked like. My sophomore year, she was very persistent about me attending the FCA Winter Blitz retreat, and I reluctantly went so I could hang out with her and some other teammates.
However, I am forever grateful that she was so persistent because that weekend I fully gave my life to The Lord. Brooke made a huge impact on the start of my journey in Christ and when I became an FCA leader on our campus my senior year, I tried to carry myself and be loving and welcoming to others, just like Brooke was to me.
