Over the years, Coach Lundeen has used football as a tool to teach life lessons grounded in biblical truth. “The scoreboard doesn’t define who you are,” he says. “My purpose is so much bigger than winning games. It’s to impact young men and use the wonderful game of football to teach life lessons.” His players echo that sentiment, saying Coach Lundeen pushes them to be not just better athletes, but better men.
As a public-school coach, Dwight models Christ daily through his actions and relationships, while FCA provides the open door to share his faith openly. “At FCA, I can tell them exactly what I believe - my faith, my journey, and why I chose to follow Jesus,” he shares. Through FCA huddles, countless athletes have come to understand that there’s something more important than football - a relationship with Christ that endures far beyond the final whistle.
For Dwight, wins and losses fade, but faith endures. “My legacy isn’t about championships,” he says. “It’s about how I’ve impacted the people I’ve coached.” His players, past and present, testify to that legacy - one of humility, discipleship, and purpose rooted in Jesus. “Football doesn’t really matter as much,” one athlete said. “Jesus and His Kingdom will never fade away.”
Coach Lundeen’s story is one of steadfast faithfulness through a lifetime of coaching that has pointed generations of athletes toward something eternal. And as the lights shine on Becker’s field each Friday night, they illuminate far more than a game. They shine on a legacy that continues to glorify God, one player and one season at a time.
