Introducing FCA's New President, Shane Williamson
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced the appointment of Shane Williamson as its eighth president and CEO. At year-end, former Vikings coach and current FCA president and CEO Les Steckel will hand FCA's baton to Williamson.
"Shane is hardworking and passionate about results," said Minnesota FCA State Director Tom Ness. "It's also exciting because he's been involved in every part of FCA, from coaching and leading a Huddle to his most recent position on the Executive Staff."
After a prayerful, comprehensive national search, the FCA selected Williamson, who has steadily grown in the ministry nice working as a teacher and coach at South Carolina high schools. He served as the Area Director of Upstate South Carolina from 2002 to 2005 then served as the Multi-Area Director for Metro Atlanta from 2005 to 2011. He's served as the Vice President of Field Ministry for the Carolinas from 2011 to 2014 and the Executive Director of Field Ministry since September 2014.
Since March 2005, Steckel has shepherded tremendous growth for FCA, with staff doubling from 727 to 1,432 while FCA Huddles tripled from 5,500 to 17,376. Moreover, FCA is now in 60 countries worldwide.
