FCA Junior Sports Camp - Mankato

The FCA Junior Sports Camp in Mankato is a day camp for athletes entering grades 3-8 who want to develop their skills in sports and strengthen their Christian walk. Athletes will pick one sport to participate in for the duration of camp and be grouped appropriately based on grade: 

Baseball (boys)  -  Football (boys)  -  Softball (girls)  -  Volleyball (girls)  -  
Basketball (coed)  -  Cross-Country/Track (coed)  -  Soccer (coed)  -  Tennis (coed)

Camp Staff & Counselors:  The coaching staff will include some of the best college, high school and youth coaches around. In addition, college and high school athletes will serve as assistant coaches and camp huddle leaders.

Camp Fee: $48

Guest Speaker - Kurt Ploeger


Kurt graduated from Le Sueur H.S. in Le Sueur, Minnesota. While in high school, Kurt played football, basketball and track. After graduation, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he played football for 4 years as a defensive tackle. He was selected to the N.A.I.A. All-America team (1st team) his junior year and the Kodak (1st team) and Pizza Hut (1st team) All-America teams his senior year. In 1985, Kurt graduated from Gustavus and was a 6th round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys. Kurt played defensive end from 1985-1987 for 3 other teams as well: The Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings.

After a career-ending injury, Kurt began attending Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN, where he received a Masters of Divinity. Pastor Kurt has served the Evangelical Free Church in pastoral ministry for 28 years. Kurt is currently serving as Church Planting Pastor for NorthLight Community Church in Byron, MN (his fourth church plant). Kurt is also an assistant Varsity Football Coach at Byron H.S. Kurt has 26 years of football coaching experience at 4 different high schools and one small college.

Kurt has been married to his ministry partner, Stacy, for 31 years. They have two adult children: Kelsey Owens (husband Matt) who resides in Kansas City, MO and B.J. Ploeger who lives in Brainerd, MN.

*At the end of camp, parents/families are invited to attend a closing assembly and ice-cream social.
