What Does a Leader Look like?

There’s a scene in the film Remember the Titans when the team is at training camp with Coach Boone and things are not going well as he tries his best to get his players to see each other through the lens of unity instead of segregation. If you’re not familiar with the movie, Gary and Julius are two of the main characters. Here’s a clip of their conversation after another grueling practice:

Did you catch that?

“Attitude reflects leadership."

It’s true. Motivation, action, direction, vision, attitude - you name it - will reflect the leadership. This is true no matter the context - school, church, government, or athletic team. People will catch the vision and motivation leadership demonstrates, which is why at Minnesota FCA one of our key pillars is equipping and empowering Christ-centered leaders.

It is why for the past 20+ years FCA has held a Leadership Camp for high school students who want to go back to their campuses and impact them for Christ. It is why FCA staff intentionally invest in coaches. It is why so many huddle coaches across the state pour into their student leaders. They know they are the ones who will have the most impact on their fellow teammates, students, and community.

What does a leader look like? You need look no further than the faces in this video.

May these growing characteristics in our leaders be catching in our communities and schools and in so doing, spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
